Wastewise are a fast-growing waste management business operating three advanced composting facilities across the North of England. We process over 200,000 tonnes per annum of garden and food waste. This is converted into over 80,000 tonnes of BSI PAS 100 certified compost for use in a range of high-quality organic soil improvers, growing media and topsoil.
Job Description
Opened in 2015, you will be leading a high-performing team operating a state of the art 75,000 t.p.a IVC facility processing mixed food and green waste for local authority contracts and producing a high-quality PAS 100 compost.

As Site Manager, you will be fully responsible for all aspects of the facility including Health Safety and Environmental Compliance, ABPR regulations, PAS 100 Compliance & product quality, and front-line customer facing and regulatory contacts.

The Site Manager will play the lead role in maintaining the plant and equipment in good working order, planning production to match commercial demands, and work within agreed budgetary requirements.

Major responsibilities

Operations
Joint P&L responsibility for site operations. Manage site staff to ensure maximum productivity levels with minimum downtime. Ensure site staff receive adequate training to perform their respective roles.
Conduct periodic appraisals with site staff. Ensure site staff and contractors abide by the systems and procedures set out by the company. Manage site inputs / outputs to maintain effective customer/supplier relationships. Manage BSI PAS 100 accreditation/validation process.

Environmental Compliance
Ensure EA and ABPR compliance and manage monitoring and reporting requirements in addition to updating and coordinating permitting, HACCP and Management Plans. Ensure site operations cause minimum nuisance to our neighbours. Maintain effective relationships with regulators and key stakeholder. Manage the site ISO 14001 accreditation process and ongoing audits. COTC Competency an advantage Knowledge of EU Skills Competency Management System (CMS) an advantage.

Health & Safety (H&S) Compliance
Ensure adherence to safe working practices and procedures.
Deliver H&S and induction training to site staff and contractors.
Assist in the development of the company H&S Management system and related procedures.

Other Duties
Work with higher management to achieve end goals.
Advise higher management of any on-going site issues.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications & Experience

COTC Level 4 in composting and treatment and continuing competency an advantage but not essential.
Knowledge of the site permit, conditions and reporting requirements.
Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage.
Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
Knowledge of record keeping system.
Knowledge of weighbridge system.
Knowledge of ABPR
Knowledge of ISO
