Job Title: Commercial Manager Construction

Location: Brentwood, Essex

Salary/Rate: £40,000 – £50,000 + package

About the Role:

My client, a growing specialist sub-contractor are looking for a driven and experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function across a range of projects. You will play a key role in managing budgets, contracts, and commercial strategy to ensure project profitability and contractual compliance from pre-construction through to final account.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the commercial performance of multiple construction projects.

• Price variations.

• Lead procurement and subcontractor negotiation processes.

• Manage and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.

• Monitor and report on budgets, cash flow, and forecasts.

• Ensure robust contract management (JCT, NEC, or relevant forms).

• Collaborate closely with Surveyors, project managers, site teams, and clients.

• Ensure timely submission of valuations, variations, and final accounts.

• Drive value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within the construction industry.

• Strong knowledge of standard construction contracts (JCT, NEC, etc.).

• Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation, and leadership skills.

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or equivalent.

• Confident communicator with strong analytical and reporting skills.

• Proficient in commercial management software (e.g., Excel, COINS, CATO, or similar).
