A highly reputable manufacture specialising in the defence industry is seeking an experienced indirect commodity manager to be involved in the strategic and operational management of indirect product and services commodities.

You will also be responsible for the ensuring the achievement of KPI’s by developing and implementing sourcing strategies for key commodities.

Other responsibilities as the Commodity Manager:

• Define and agree commodity strategy
• Ensure performance against KPI’s (quality, cost, delivery) and proactively identify and manage any risks that may impact the business
• Manage indirect categories of spend and all aspects of indirect procurement
• Provide programme management and leadership for the installation and development of in-house capabilities
• Deliver longer term management of multi-functional teams to deliver and manage the plan
• Ensure closed communication with the indirect sourcing, Account Managers on performance of the plan
• As required, liaise at senior and operational levels within main suppliers/partners, solving major problems of a technical, quality or delivery schedule nature
• Lead on key supplier negotiations supported by account managers and compile cost based audit reports required for contracts and present to customer/government bodies as required

Experience/skills required:

• Extensive background working in a manufacturing/facilities environment as a commodity manager
• Engineering knowledge and experience
• Worked in a commercial environment dealing with similar types of commodities, materials and services
