Construction Buyer – A well-established construction firm is seeking a Construction Buyer to oversee the procurement of materials, plant, and external labour for various construction projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely delivery of resources within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Your role:

• Identifying suitable suppliers and subcontractors, obtaining quotes, negotiating prices and terms, and managing purchase orders.
• Ensuring materials and services are purchased at the most cost-effective prices while maintaining quality and adhering to project budgets.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring their performance, and resolving any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
• Negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring favourable terms and conditions for the company.
• Ensuring materials and services meet the required quality standards and specifications.
• Tracking inventory levels and ensuring materials are available when needed, minimising delays and waste.
• Working closely with project managers, estimators, and other team members to understand project requirements and ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with the supply chain, such as price fluctuations, material shortages, and supplier delays.
• Ensuring all procurement activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations, company policies, and legal requirements.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in construction purchasing or procurement is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of construction materials, plant, and subcontractors.
• Strong negotiation skills to secure the best prices and terms from suppliers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects, track inventory, and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to identify and resolve issues related to procurement, supply chain, or supplier performance.
• Proficiency in using procurement software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software.
