Our client is a leading and innovative business located in Sheffield who are seeking a dedicated and experienced Interim Purchasing Manager to lead all purchasing activities as well as a small dynamic team, initially on a contract basis.

As the Interim Purchasing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services essential for the manufacturing processes. You will lead a team of professionals, collaborate with suppliers, and strategies to optimise the procurement processes. Key Responsibilities of the Interim Purchasing Manager:

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise cost, quality, and delivery performance
• Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of procurement professionals, fostering their growth and ensuring departmental efficiency
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and finance, to align procurement activities with company objectives
• Identify and evaluate potential UK global suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish strong partnerships
• Work with relevant departments to manage inventory requirements with the use of ERP/MRP
• Manage inventory levels and implement inventory control measures to minimis waste and optimise inventory turnover
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and ethical standards in procurement practices
• Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction
• Prepare and present reports on procurement performance to senior management

You will be relevant for this if you have the following attributes:

• A level of CIPS qualification is highly desirable
• At least 3 years’ experience in Purchasing/Materials Management
• Experience working in a specialised manufacturing / engineering environment
• Experience of leading a team and improving efficiency, processes and systems, setting KPIs and team and supplier performance, stock levels and MRP performance
• Ability to identify new potential suppliers and manage key supplier partnerships
