IT Category Manager – FTC

We are working with one of our largest customers who are a behemoth in the Financial Services sector. We are looking for an experienced IT Category Manager to join them on a 1 year FTC. There is also potential for this to go further or even turn permanent in the future.

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to optimise the value delivered from the clients third-party relationships for the supply of goods and services. The role is to own, develop and implement the category plan for IT services and IT Professional Services.

It will entail supporting cross-functional teams in the delivery of complex sourcing initiatives, leading on the contractual requirements and obligations as well as working with strategic suppliers to identify and deliver service and costs efficiencies and improvements. Key measures are the achievement of cost optimisation, risk management and ensuring contracts are negotiated and supplier relationships are managed in accordance with the clients standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Supports the Strategic Procurement Manager to deliver on agreed targets and service delivery.
• Leads, develops and executes strategic supplier commercial and contractual initiatives in line with the agreed IT services and IT Professional Services category plan.
• Builds and maintains effective relationships with strategic suppliers, management and key stakeholders.
• Supports the business in all contractual and supplier management queries, reporting and associated activities.
• Delivers cost optimisation and other value add benefits to the client.
• Supports the Strategic Procurement Manager to deliver on reporting and Management Information requirements.
• Conducts IT market analysis, on strategic suppliers and alternative market leading vendors
• Supports tactical and strategic sourcing projects (including vendor screening) via approved channels and facilitates storage of associated contracts as per agreed processes.

Technical Skills

• Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
• Strong business acumen, ability to understand wider business impacts.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross functional environment with good negotiation skills and high degree of influencing and communication skills.
• Assertiveness, high tenacity, ability to work in a team as well as in a self-motivated and flexible way towards agreed objectives.
• Strategic and flexible mindset with analytical and result oriented thinking.
• Analytical skills and experience analysing spend and using market insights to support the development of category / sourcing strategies.
