Jobsworth Recruitment are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our clients based in Oxford, However you will be required to work from their Birmingham office twice a week, so full UK drivers licence and own transport is a must for this position with willingness to commute. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing costs and ensuring the financial viability of construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Location- Oxford based, however you will also be based in Birmingham twice a week.

Salary- 25,000 to 30,000 per year, Including company pension

Hours- Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular updates on financial performance.
• Conduct cost analysis and identify areas for cost savings throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure alignment on budgetary constraints.
• Review contracts and negotiate terms to safeguard the organisation’s interests.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects.
• Prepare tender documents and assist in the selection of contractors.
• Provide advice on procurement strategies and risk management related to costs.

Requirements

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Currently studying for Bachelors
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of cost control principles and practices.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making is essential.
