Our Client is a £200 million business which supplies cake and desserts to service the own brands of major retailers. They are a profitable business with a clear commercial strategy and strong relationship with our customers through our energy, style and commitment to partnerships and quality.

We are recruiting for a Project Engineer within the engineering projects function to take ownership and accountability for end-to-end delivery of capital projects. Reporting to the Engineering Projects Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the scoping, planning and execution of multiple capital projects within the business. The role will be based in Oldham.

The primary purpose of this role is to manage capital projects from initial scoping through successful delivery. Capital projects range from infrastructure to process improvements, HSE and NPD driven spend. The successful applicant will support the engineering projects team by delivering capital projects within an annual budget in excess of £2 million.

Role responsibilities include:

• Liaising with departments cross-functionally to ascertain requirements and define project scope
• Completing feasibility studies to accurately estimate project costs
• Controlling budget and spend forecasts
• Running tendering events, with responsibility for equipment specification and URS writing
• Selecting preferred suppliers, including application of appropriate contracts
• Visiting and assessing suppliers as required
• Managing external suppliers throughout project lifecycle
• Co-ordinating all contractors in accordance with our policies
• Managing CDM, safety, health and environment and contractor control requirements
• Reporting, including tracking project progression, activity, priorities, and financials
• Managing PDI, FAT, SAT and commissioning processes

Ideal Knowledge, Skills And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering apprenticeship qualification or equivalents
• Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG
• Proven experience in the delivery of complex projects
• A high level of organisation, time management and project planning skills
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work in a team environment
• Experience in AutoCAD
• Knowledge of applicable regulations e.g. lifting regulations, LOLER, ATEX, DSEAR, PUWER and UKCA / CE marking
• Prior experience with Construction, Design and Management (CDM) processes
• Experience with PLC control systems
• High level of IT literacy
• Preferable experience with MS Project
• Formal project management qualifications are desirable

Working hours and travel

• Core working hours are 7.30am-4:00pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am- 3:00pm on a Friday, however flexibility is required to support the business, so you will need to work outside these hours on occasion
• Candidates will be required to undertake occasional travel – mileage and travel expenses will be provided

Salary and benefits:
£45-50k, dependent upon experience,
