Overview:

Client facing role, based on a static site Monday through Friday from 08:00- 17:00, supervising the safe delivery of project contracts from inception to completion including the management of contractors, external stakeholders and liaison with the resident BGIS site team. Assisting the Project Manager to ensure project profitably in line with expected Gross Profit and to ensure practical completion and prompt billing.

The candidate should have a clear understanding of the requirements to self-deliver projects from commencement to completion in line with the BGIS procedures and culture.

Project Planning

• Assist Project Manager by accompanying sub-contractors to attend site to evaluate new project opportunities.
• Supervision of projects with safety and customer satisfaction as a priority.
• Explain implications of changes to project scope and/or objectives to the client and to the project team.
• Manage the subcontract team to prioritize tasks outstanding, obstacles or barriers, budgets, resources and deadlines.
• Create, or participate in the creation of project documentation.
• Ensure all project documentation is in place and suitable prior to any start on site.
• Develop a relationship with the client stakeholders, team members, or contract personnel to ensure the defined solution, established project time lines and budgets, are all as expected.
• Work with the Project Manager/ Head of Projects to ensure changes are understood and approved.
• Forward plan to recognize potential programme implications.

Project accounting and finance

• Work closely with the Project Manager to accurately forecast revenue, profitability, margins and billing.
• Determine the appropriate revenue recognition, ensuring timely and accurate completion of works to enable invoicing.

Project control

• The Project Supervisor is to be responsible for the safe running of their own projects and assist in the completion of a Construction Phase Plan as part of their project control methodology.
• Ensure that each project runs in conjunction with the Construction Phase Plan and Risk Assessments/ Method Statements, and that each person involved in the project is proven to have the required skills.
• Manage scope creep through client change orders, internal change orders, phased delivery or other methods to ensure projects deliver on time line, scope, budget and strategy expectations.
• Ensure project meets internal and client expectations with respect to quality, budget, delivery time lines.
• Identify, track, manage and mitigate risk on specific client engagements. Escalate these issues when necessary to ensure minimal impact to quality, budget, and time line.
• Where project control is in jeopardy, assist the Project Manager /Head of Projects in creating contingency plans with appropriate input from key team members and implement a revised project schedule, scope or budget in a timely manner.
• Management of the on site Health & Safety file including production of daily site diaries, documentation project updates, permits, induction records, safety documentation, and action trackers.

Project communication

• Work with project team to ensure clients achieve an understanding of expectations, deliverable, dependencies, risks, progress and the works development process.
• Act as the consistent site contact between contractors, client, and key building stakeholders, facilitating coordination between multiple contractors on site (especially where projects overlap with live environment operations).
• Report daily/ weekly progress, risks, expectations, time lines, milestones and other key project metrics to clients and team members in a timely and professional manner both orally and in writing.

Internal project reporting and administration

• Attend project review meetings.

Resource management

• Experience of Supervising projects £50k to £1m plus.
• Understand project roles of team members based on project requirements, time frames and budget.
• Work with external contractors in addition to internal resources.
• Understand skill sets (competencies) required for the project based on project specifications and requirements.

Client management

• Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
• Build a knowledge base of each client’s business, organization and objectives.
• Work with the day-to-day client team.
• Set and manages client expectations.

Job specification of Projects Supervisor

• Must be willing to travel outside London including occasional over-night stays.
• Office based, 5 days per week.
• Develop sales ability.
• Punctual.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in supervising complex projects that are strategic in nature and scope.
• Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to execute projects on time and quality.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a small team setting.
• Good computer skills, proficient with MS office applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively and fluently.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence etc.).
