About the client:
They are on the lookout for a dynamic individual to join their team as a Building Surveyor. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in managing and enhancing their UK-wide occupational property portfolio, ensuring it aligns with company values, operational excellence, and legal requirements.

Position: Building Surveyor
Location: Home-based with extensive UK travel (including overnight stays). Their support centre office is situated in Wellingborough.
Role Overview: As a Building Surveyor, you will collaborate closely with the Senior Building Surveyor to oversee and develop our occupational property portfolio across the UK. Your responsibilities will include project management, property maintenance, compliance assurance, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead specific projects in accordance with agreed strategy, procurement guidelines, and high standards, from design to completion.
• Maintain a property portfolio that adheres to company, operational, and legal requirements, ensuring fitness for purpose.
• Manage property maintenance budgets, ensuring annual works are carried out, and a safe working environment is upheld.
• Identify and rectify building defects through diagnosis and arranging necessary repairs across the UK property portfolio.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date property records, liaising with estate managers for landlord responsibilities.
• Oversee contractors and supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with SLAs, KPIs, and regular audits.

Key Attributes:

• Degree-level qualification in Building Surveying.
• Profound knowledge of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015, Building Regulations, Planning Law, Health & Safety, and Regulatory Compliance pertaining to Property and Facilities.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Collaborative and partnership-oriented approach.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Persuasive reasoning abilities to influence decision-making.
• Self-motivated with a positive outlook.
• Proficient time management with a track record of meeting deadlines.
• Problem-solving skills and determination.
• Ability to simplify and present complex information accurately.
• Comfortable operating strategically and operationally.
• Experience within a multi-site national operator/occupier with significant UK travel.
• Thrives under pressure, adept at multitasking and adapting to changing priorities.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

• Membership in a recognised professional body, ideally RICS Building Surveying Faculty (or CIOB).
• Familiarity with the charity and donation sector.
• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Drawing software (Autocad).
