Sales Manager

Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturing business in Portsmouth, is seeking a Sales Manager for a temporary opportunity. This role offers the chance to drive business development and sales growth across safety-critical products, while building strong customer relationships and contributing to strategic commercial initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify new leads, develop commercial opportunities and convert prospects into long-term customers
• Manage customer relationships from initial contact through contract negotiation, signing and ongoing account support
• Support pricing strategies, deal structuring and contract negotiations to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
• Work collaboratively with Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Operations, Finance and Engineering teams
• Contribute to sales strategy, business planning and strategic projects that support organisational growth
• Host quarterly performance reviews with key customers and maintain high standards of service
• Oversee large order processing, including backlog reviews and delivery planning
• Influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes for key accounts

Job Requirements:

• Experience in business development, sales or account management, with a strong focus on negotiation and relationship-building
• Proven ability to manage customer or supplier accounts and negotiate commercial contracts
• Sound financial understanding, including pricing, margins and risk management
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and experience using ERP systems
• Strong ownership mindset, initiative and a results-driven approach
• Customer-focused attitude with the ability to build trust and deliver value
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments
• Experience in aerospace or another technical industry, with strategic thinking and project leadership skills

Desirable Qualifications:

• Degree in Business, Aerospace, Procurement, Engineering or a related discipline
• Equivalent professional experience will also be considered
• Demonstrable leadership potential and readiness to take on increased responsibility

Additional Information:

• Based in Portsmouth, with occasional travel to customers
• Working hours are 07:30 to 16:15 Monday to Thursday and 07:30 to 16:00 on Fridays
• Every other Friday is a non-working day, providing a nine-day working fortnight
