Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: West Sussex or Kent office, with travel to sites in West Sussex and Surrey and occasional visits to head office in Kent
Salary: £80,000 £90,000 + package
Working Pattern: Hybrid 2 days in the office, 2 days on site, 1 day working from home

About the Role

We re recruiting on behalf of a leading South East housebuilder for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team on a major residential development in Surrey.

The successful candidate will manage all commercial aspects of the project from pre-construction through to completion, working closely with project managers, contractors, and design teams. This is a hybrid position offering a great balance of office, site, and home-based work.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial elements of residential developments from start to finish

• Prepare and maintain cost plans, budgets, and forecasts

• Evaluate and negotiate subcontract and supplier contracts

• Measure and value variations, ensuring accurate progress claims

• Monitor cost, risk, and programme performance, reporting to senior management

• Liaise closely with project managers, design teams, and contractors to ensure delivery within budget

• Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the residential sector

• Timber Frame and Main Contracting experience essential

• Experience on large-scale residential or affordable housing projects desirable

• RICS qualified or working towards accreditation preferred

• Strong commercial, contractual, and cost management knowledge

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills

• Proactive, commercially astute, and able to work collaboratively across multiple teams
